Bloom into Being

porcelain, stains, wild clay, glaze, thread, canvas, steel
26” x 26”x 8”
2026

This sculpture is inspired by the regional Texas native Pleatleaf Iris. Flowers are often used as adornment; here, the flower becomes a subject. Sewn beads create a dialogue between craft and form, making the material and process part of the subject. Wild clay beads give reverence to place. The speckled, glazed black beads suggest a dream like vision of a flower blooming in the dark.

Flow, From the Water to the Sky

midrange porcelain colored with stains, wild clay inclusions harvested from personal significant places, glaze, sewn onto a canvas and steel armature
40" x 23" x 10"
2024

This abstract wing shaped sculpture, with color patterns representing mallard ducks and loons is intended to embody change and transition. The scale, repetition and textures are meant to act on the viewer's body, reminding us that transformation and migration are not only physical experiences, but internal and emotional as well.

Camouflaging Innocence

2022

46”x 40” x 10”

Camouflaging Innocence is about the embodied experience, and power of innocence. Inspired by mother deer leaving their fawns in open fields, as their spots give them the ability to be camouflaged. Here, innocence and vulnerability is realized as a strength and a protective mechanism.

Letting Go

2024
10" x 10" x 3"

mid range porcelain, stains, wild clay inclusions from a dried up section of the Guadalupe River, sewn onto recycled fabric on a steel armature.

This small scale sculpture is about how the small act of crying can create a release. Animals move from emotions in minutes, while humans carry grief for years. This sculpture is an emotional response to the embodiment of ecological grief.

The Hunt

30" x 14" x 8"
2024
porcelain, glaze, wire, steel, canvas

Inspired by the Dean Young poem "The Soul" this sculpture embodies the slow, intricate, meticulous approach to my creative practice. Often feeling like a hunt for prey, or a long stalk of what it is that I'm really after. The form feels dreamlike while including elements of reality.

Gravity of Breath (Lungs like Wings)

The Gravity of Breath (Lungs like Wings) is composed of thousands of handmade ceramic beads, each one a trace of touch and time. Deep blacks, blues, and bronzes evokes both the cosmos and the interior. The form suggests lungs, wings, and breath in motion: a complete exhale made visible. In this moment of release, the lungs are emptied, an absence of breath, a stillness that holds weight. Rooted in ancestral memory, the sculpture reflects on inherited experiences that live in the body, passed silently through generations. The beaded strands become carriers of breath, of lineage, of the weight and lightness of what we carry and release.
